August 16th — Pet Parade
Fun for everyone. Bring pets of all kinds. Sign ups are free and begin at 5:30 p.m. Parade will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Read Park, 490 D Street. The Annual Pet Parade is sponsored by the Tehachapi Mountain Dog Fanciers. Pet Parade applications are available at the Chamber office or by clicking here.

The excitement of the Carnival will again be part of Mountain Festival. The rides, the lights, the fun! There will be rides and fun for all ages.

The Carnival will be located at the corner of Robinson and D Streets across from Wells School Playground. Carnival hours are Friday, August 17th from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Saturday, August 18th from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 19th from 12:00 p.m. to 8 00 p.m. Presale tickets at a reduced price will be available at the Chamber office on July 23rd. Presale tickets will be 20 tickets for $14.00, at the carnival booth ticket prices will be 1 ticket for $1.25, 20 tickets for $20.00 and 50 tickets for $40.00. Sunday, August 19th will be "Pay One Price" day. The presale price for a wristband that will enable you to ride as often as you like will be $20.00; on Sunday at carnival booth cost is $25.00. Wrist Bands are good for Sunday, August 19th only.

Come by the Chamber office and get your Carnival presale tickets at a reduced price when they go on sale on July 23rd. The last day to purchase your tickets and wristbands at this special price will be Thursday, August 16th at 12:00 p.m. For more information call 661-822-4180.

August 17th and 18th — V.F.W. Live Music and Dinner/Dance
Start your weekend on Friday, August 17th with live music and dancing. On Saturday night, come and enjoy a delicious tri-tip and hot links dinner, then dance the night away under the stars to another of your favorite country bands. Dinner is served starting at 6:00 pm. The V.F.W. is located at 221 W. Tehachapi Blvd. For information, call 661-822-7500.

August 17th, 18th & 19th —Tehachapi Gem & Mineral Show
St. Malachy's Catholic Church, located at 407 West E St, will be the location of the 2012 Tehachapi Gem and Mineral Show. This is your chance to come by and see some interesting gems, minerals and fossils. There will be a very unique florescent mineral display under the ultra violet lights for your enjoyment and education.

There will be vendors offering their handmade crafts. Lots of jewelry, fossils, and minerals from around the world will be on display and offered for sale. A registered gemologist will be here and you are sure to see your friends and neighbors.

The local Gem and Mineral Society will be there with a spinning wheel with all sorts of great prizes, fossil sand dollars, or maybe a fossil shark tooth. They will be offering geodes that you can buy and for a small fee, cut open and be the first person to see what Mother Nature has created inside.

The show is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 17th through 19th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Come on by and say hello, bring a rock or you may even want to buy one of our rocks or gems or fossils. There is no admission charged and alot of good knowledge to be shared. August 18th — Mountain Festival Summer Fun Run
The Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District will once again sponsor the Mountain Festival Summer Fun Run on Saturday, August 18th. Entrants will meet at the corner of Tehachapi Blvd and Snyder Ave (Monroe High School). All runners, walkers, Moms and Dads with babies in carriages and senior citizens are welcome to compete in the 5k and 10k event. Registration begins at 6:00 a.m. and the race will start at 7:00 a.m. We have categories for all runners ages 8 to 70.

Registration forms are available by clicking here or online at www.tvrpd.org or may be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce, the Tehachapi Library, Tehachapi City Hall and Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Parks District office. Information and map of the route for 5k and 10k will also be available online soon.

Pre-registration cost is $25 and includes a T-shirt. Pre-registration deadline is Wednesday, August 8th. Registration the day of the event is $30 and no T-shirt. T-shirts will be available for purchase on race day for $10.

August 18th — Pancake Breakfast
Before heading to any of the Festival events on Saturday, August 18th, come and enjoy a pancake breakfast, sponsored by the American Legion Post 221, and prepared & served by the Royal Rangers of Tehachapi in the Veterans Hall at 125 East F Street. Breakfast will be available from 7:00 to 9:30 a.m. The Royal Rangers will be serving their traditional "all you can eat" Mountain Festival Pancake Breakfast, which is sponsored by the American Legion Post 221. Pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice will be available within steps of the festival parade. Tickets will be on sale in July and advance ticket prices are $5.00 for adults while children 10 years and under can eat for just $4.00. Tickets bought at the door will cost 50 cents more.

The Royal Ranger is a Christian organization for boys, ages five through fourteen. Camping out is among their many activities, along with trips to Knott's Berry Farm and Magic Mountain. The boys also participate in an annual derby involving model cars handmade from wood blocks. The Royal Rangers hold their meetings at the Christian Life Assembly Church on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Contact Candace Gaeta, Christian Life Assembly, at 822-3813 for more information. August 18th — Festival Parade
Come see the local celebrities, fun floats, high school band, horses, clowns, and much more. The entries will be judged and trophies awarded to winners. Don't forget to pick up your trophy at the Park Gazebo. The parade route will be on F Street, from Mulberry Street to Hayes Street. Parade begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 18th. August 18th and 19th — Arts & Crafts Fair & Park Festival
Bring the whole family, there's something for everyone!! There will be 100 vendors of handmade arts & crafts, commercial booths, a variety of local non-profit organization food booths, a beer garden, entertainment in the park, fun and games for the kids, and much more. All this will take place at Central Park on Saturday, August 18th and Sunday, August 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

August 19th — 15th Annual Tehachapi Mountain Festival® Car & Truck Show
The 15th Annual Tehachapi Mountain Festival® Car & Truck Show "Thunder on the Mountain" will return to downtown Tehachapi at Green & F Streets.  The show will be held on Sunday, August 19th from 9 am to 3 pm.

Pre-Registration Fee is $35 and includes a Dash Plaque and a free t-shirt.  *Registration is limited to 300 Entries.* To qualify for Pre-Registration, payment and Registration Form must be received by August 12th.   Parking is *First Come, First Served*. If you want to park with your club or group of friends, plan to arrive together and park.  Event parking begins at 6:00 a.m.

August 17th & 18th — PRCA Rodeo
Come and celebrate the western heritage of Tehachapi at the 49th Annual Tehachapi Mountain Festival® PRCA Rodeo August 17-18 at the Tehachapi Rodeo Grounds on Dennison Road.

Family members of all ages will thrill to the high flying, head jerking, spine tingling excitement that only a day at the rodeo can bring. Even the most seasoned rodeo fans will be delighted by the antics of the clowns and amazed at the bravery of the bullfighters.

Festivities begin on Friday, August 17th at 7:00 pm, followed by more action on Saturday starting at 5:00 pm.

Tickets will be available at a discounted rate at Albertson's Customer Service Booth, Hemme Hay feed store, and the Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce. Presale ticket prices are $13 for adults and $10 for children 5-12, seniors 60 and over and military with ID. Children 4 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.

Tickets will be on sale at the gate prior to both performances. Gate prices are $15 for adults and $12 for children and seniors.
